A Word about Radio

We wish we could use all the available memory on this computer to sing the praises of radio DJ’s. Those unsung heroes who, as a kid, put me to sleep at night with the radio under my covers. Waking up one Saturday morning hearing Dave Jackson play "It Rained Today" off our first album. The thought of those airwaves carrying our song out across the country is something I’ll never forget. I’ve kept that radio still for that very reason. I’ve seen station’s play lists and have noticed Route 3 in there and always make sure to email or call…cuz’, to make it short, they don’t have to play ya…but we sure appreciate it when they do. Things have certainly changed over the years. The days of a local radio station breaking a new artist or record, or even hearing an unknown artist are all but gone. It’s all comes down to the power of the national play lists. And those are influenced by a lot of label money…payola. Leaving the listener virtually out of the equation. By trying to appeal to the most people by playing the fewest songs, it is a tough field for anyone to break into. Take a drive sometime and you’ll notice that every station has nearly the same play lists, if not through some creepy satellite feed, the same DJ even, making vague references so you think they might really be in your town…

Sorry about the tangent. But that being said, these are some of the terrific supporters we’ve had over the years and currently that means so much to us. I wish I knew every station that is or might have ever played us just once…they’d be here. Thanks to the public radio and college stations out there you can take a break from the repetition of most stations. It's not top 40 anymore. More like top 8. Check them out if you have one in your area. We encourage you to support them. No offense to the general market stations, or the artists who get played to death…but I think you all know what I mean. So if you’ve got a second, call and request a Route 3 song, The Final Say, Mystery at Boiling etc. at one of these fine stations listed above. And for fun, call the stations in cities that you don't live in. I don't think there's any rule...
It really does mean a lot and can really help. Email us their info and we’ll send them a CD and maybe replace at least one Matchbox 20* song.
(*No offense intended. They’re a great band. Just victims of "overplayment."
